Audio Gear & Systems

I’ll bet that you’ve heard of 8-track players. And you probably know that they were very popular in the 1960s, 1970s, and the very early 1980s. The players were usually part of a home stereo setup, and there were countless thousands, maybe millions, in the cars of the day. But where are they now? They’re in the dustbin of history and in the landfills, for the most part. The reason is simple: innovative products took away the 8-track niche. And what were those innovative products? In the late 1960’s as I recall, cassette players and cartridges were introduced into the mass audio market, and while we had reel-to-reel recorders, innovation killed those products as well. By the mid-1980s, those silver, saucer-shaped objects called “compact disks” started taking over the audio market. And like a bomb burst, we’ve had even more innovative products since the 1990s and in the first decade of the new century taking their “rightful” place in the market. Items such as home theater, iPODs, MP3s and MP4s, and carousel CD players, to name a few, offer a consumer a wide range of technologically superior items to purchase. And who hasn’t heard about the Bose Wave Music System, with optional CD changer, that gives concert hall sound out of a small box? The products in this section will give years of playability and satisfaction if you decide to purchase one or more.
